Keynote Speakers

Prof.Alex Kot Chichung
Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore,  Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of IES
Nanyang Technology University, Singapore

 

Prof. Kot has been with the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore since 1991. He headed the Division of Information Engineering at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) for eight years. He was the Vice Dean Research and Associate Chair (Research) for the School of EEE for three years, overseeing the research activities for the School with over 200 faculty members. He was the Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) for the College of Engineering (COE) for eight years. He is currently the Director of ROSE Lab [Rapid(Rich) Object SEearch Lab) and the Director of NTU-PKU Joint Research Institue . He has published extensively with over 300 technical papers in the areas of signal processing for communication, biometrics recognition, authentication, image forensics, machine learning and AI. He has two USA and one Singapore patents granted.

Dr. Kot served as Associate Editor for a number of IEEE transactions, including IEEE TSP, IMM, TCSVT, TCAS-I, TCAS-II, TIP, SPM, SPL, JSTSP, JASP, TIFS, etc. He was a TC member for several IEEE Technical Committee in SPS and CASS. He has served the IEEE in various capacities such as the General Co-Chair for the 2004 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) and area/track chairs for several IEEE flagship conferences. He also served as the IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturer Program Coordinator and the Chapters Chair for IEEE Signal Processing Chapters worldwide. He received the Best Teacher of The Year Award at NTU, the Microsoft MSRA Award and as a co-author for several award papers. He was elected as the IEEE CAS Distinguished Lecturer in 2005. He was a Vice President in the Signal Processing Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturer. He is now a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore, a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of IES.

 

 

Prof. Robert Minasian, IEEE Fellow
The University of Sydney, Australia

 

Professor Minasian is a Chair Professor with the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Sydney, Australia. He is also the Director of the Fibre-optics and Photonics Laboratory. His research has made key contributions to microwave photonic signal processing. He is recognized as an author of one of the top 1% most highly cited papers in his field worldwide. Professor Minasian has contributed over 380 research publications, including Invited Papers in the IEEE Transactions and Journals. He has 70 Plenary, Keynote and Invited Talks at international conferences. He has served on numerous technical and steering committees of international conferences. Professor Minasian was the recipient of the ATERB Medal for Outstanding Investigator in Telecommunications, awarded by the Australian Telecommunications and Electronics Research Board. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE, and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.

 

Prof. Perry Shum Ping
OSA Fellow, SPIE Fellow

Prof Shum received his PhD degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK, in 1995. In 1999, he joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, NTU. Since 2014, he has been appointed as the Director of Centre for Optical Fibre Technology and was the chair, committee member and international advisor of many international conferences. He was also the founding member of IEEE Photonics Society Singapore Chapter (formerly IEEE LEOS). He is currently the chairman of OSA Singapore Chapter. Prof Shum has published more than 500 journal and conference papers with his research interests being in the areas of speciality fibres and fibre-based devices. His H-index is 40. In recent few years, his publications have been cited about 500-800 times per year. He is SPIE Fellow and OSA Fellow.

Assoc. Prof. Andrew Keong Ng
Senior Member of IEEE and IES

Dr. Andrew Ng is an Associate Professor with Singapore Institute of Technology. He is the Deputy Programme Director of the BEng (Honours) and MEngTech programmes in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Land), which focus on railway engineering and total preventive maintenance. He is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council and serves on the committees of various local and international professional engineering institutions, such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE). He is a Senior Member of IEEE and IES, as well as a Consultant and Advisor to startups and multinational corporations. In addition, Dr. Ng is a Principal Investigator of several grants amounting to more than SGD 500,000. He holds one international patent and has over 20 publications as both first and corresponding author. His research and development innovations have also garnered him several prestigious awards, such as Outstanding Researcher Award, Teaching Excellence Award, Amity Researcher Award, Young Investigator Award, and National Instruments Editor’s Choice Engineering Impact Award. Furthermore, Dr. Ng has been frequently quoted and interviewed by news media on railway transportation issues and current affairs. He has also been a keynote and an invited speaker at various international conferences.

 


Prof. Shailesh Tiwari

Prof. Shailesh Tiwari, Ph.D. currently works as a Director, ABES Engineering College, and Professor in Computer Science & Engineering Department, ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad, India. He is an alumnus of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, India. His primary areas of research are software testing, implementation of optimization algorithms and machine learning techniques in various engineering problems. He has published more than 80 publications in International Journals and in Proceedings of International Conferences of repute. He has edited special issues of several Scopus, SCI and E-SCI-indexed journals. He has also edited several books published by Springer.  He has published 4 Indian patents as IPRs. He has organized several international conferences under the banner of IEEE, ACM and Springer. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, member of IEEE Computer Society, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (FIE).

 

Assoc. Prof. Carol Anne Hargreaves,
National University of Singapore,Singapore

 

Associate Professor Carol Hargreaves is Director of the Data Analytics Consulting Centre at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and holds a joint position as an associate professor in the Department of Statistics & Applied Probability and the Department of Mathematics since 2017. From 2010 – 2016, she was the Chief of Business Analytics at the Institute of Systems Science at the National University of Singapore. She is also the Co-Chair for the Data Science & Analytics Programme and a member of the Industry Committee for the Faculty of Science at NUS.
Her research area includes Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Applications in Healthcare and the Financial Industry. She has published book chapters and numerous research articles in international journals. She is a Member of the Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS) Mathematics Programme Advisory Committee. Associate Professor Carol Hargreaves is a seasoned Keynote Conference Speaker and a Technical Committee Member for many international conferences.

Assoc Prof Cai Yiyu,
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Professor Yiyu Cai is a tenured faculty with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. In NTU, he heads the Computer-aided Engineering Labs, and directs the Strategic Research Program of VR & Soft Computing. He is also deputy director of NTU's Center of Augmented & Virtual Reality. He has over 20 years’ experience doing R&D in Virtual & Augmented Reality, Simulation & Serious Games, Artificial Intelligence, and their applications in medicine, engineering and education. His research has been supported by Singapore’s National Research Foundation, Temasek Trust Funded Singapore Millennium Foundation, Ministry of Education, and many other public and private sectors. He has co-invented 6 international patents, and published 6 books (Springer) and over 150 technical articles in SCI/SSCI journals and leading international conferences. He has organized more than 20 international conferences and will co-chair the prestigious AI medical conference MICCAI2022 in Singapore. He has given near 60 keynote or invited speeches in 20+ countries including France, Hollands, and Japan. He was former president of International Simulation and Gaming Association which was founded in Europe 50 years ago.
